It's primary day in New Hampshire. As Donald Trump and Nikki Haley square off in the Republican race, we speak to 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson on her longshot campaign against President Biden. In an unusual twist, Williamson's name is on today's ballot, but Biden's is not. Biden opted out of running in New Hampshire after the state refused to move its primary until after South Carolina's. Williamson discusses why she's running for president, her antiwar platform, calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, immigration reform and the New Hampshire primary election. "Just like with health and sickness, you don't just treat sickness, you learn to cultivate health," she says. "We need to not just drop bombs and put people in prison when there is conflict. We need to learn to prevent conflict. We need to proactively create peace."

For over three decades, she has been a leader in spiritual and progressive circles. She is the
author of 15 books, four of which have been #1 New York Times bestsellers.

Williamson founded Project Angel Food, a non-profit organization that has delivered more than
16 million meals to ill and dying homebound patients since 1989. The group was created to help
people suffering from the ravages of HIV/AIDS.

She has also worked throughout her career on poverty, anti-hunger and racial reconciliation
issues. In 2004, she co-founded The Peace Alliance to support the creation of a U.S.
Department of Peace, and has hosted the Sister Giant Conferences that have educated and
encouraged thousands of women throughout the country to engage in political activity.

The pillars of Williamson’s Presidential campaign are the restoration of America’s middle class
through an Economic Bill of Rights, including universal healthcare, tuition free college and tech
school, and a guaranteed living wage; the establishment of a Department of Peace and the
Department of Children and Youth; the declaration of a Climate Emergency to mass mobilize for
the development of a green energy grid; and ending America’s Drug War. Williamson believes
the transformation of American society requires that we address the root causes of our
problems, and not only their symptoms.

If elected, Williamson will be the first female, the first mother and the first grandmother to be
President of the United States.

Author, spiritual teacher, and activist Marianne Williamson has long been a voice for both enlightenment and social justice and equality in American life. Though her campaign did not last long, she made a big splash on the Democratic debate stage back in 2020, with some exciting performances. In spite of the fact that Democrats already hold the White House, Marianne believes that the country's establishment class needs to be challenged to pull America back from the brink. She's doing so from within the Democratic Party. I wanted to speak to Marianne because on the whole, she has been a sincere voice for humanizing our politics. She tends not to trash her political opponents by name since neither party has monopoly on wisdom or character. And while she is clearly progressive, she seems as willing to reflect on the shortcomings of her own side as criticize the Republicans for theirs.

In this conversation, we talked about what it will take to rebuild goodwill between the American people, freedom of speech, the battle against the “Neo-fascist authoritarian threat” she sees as coming from some factions on the right, as well as Marianne's view on the role of religion in transcending America's divides.

"Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont offered tepid praise on Tuesday for Marianne Williamson's 2024 presidential campaign, telling Insider at the Capitol that he expected her to raise "very important issues" during the campaign.

Williamson — a self-help author, spiritual leader, and 2020 presidential candidate — is currently the only well-known Democrat to officially launch a presidential campaign. President Joe Biden is widely expected to announce a re-election bid, but has yet to officially do so.

Sanders has said he will support Biden if he seeks re-election, and told Insider on Tuesday that he doesn't "want to speculate" about Williamson's chances. But Williamson endorsed Sanders in 2020 after dropping out of the campaign, and he indicated a respect for her that other Democrats haven't shown."
