Manchester, NH – It is clear that the DNC is spending time putting in place ways to continue suppressing what voters keep saying they want. 67% of American voters want someone else besides President Joe Biden to run for President. The DNC is out of touch with the American voters, and out of touch with democracy. We reject any moves that the DNC makes that would suppress the voice of Democratic voters and penalize the voters in any state including NH. It is time for the Democratic Party to stop filling its back rooms with smoke, and allow the American public to decide who should be our next nominee.
It is abundantly clear that the DNC’s continued delay of a decision on whether they will count NH votes in the primary is a disenfranchisement of voters and a further display of disrespect for our democratic system.
Furthermore, to continue to deny debates and exclude Marianne Williamson from democratic events also proves the DNC inability or unwillingness to conduct neutral primaries.
The DNC’s intention to refuse to count the votes cast by NH voters in their state’s Presidential primary election – and rather than recognize the applicable delegates won by each candidate, to rather turn them over to their preferred candidate in the 2024 nominating convention – is direct and prima facie obstruction and interference with NH election law. This is clearly actionable, and could subject the DNC to a variety of penalties and sanctions including but not limited to suspension of the party’s state recognition, monetary fines and/or whatever other remedies either the Secretary of State or state courts having jurisdiction may order.
Even the slight possibility of such an outcome would represent an existential and devastating threat to the Party both in NH (where all their candidates would be obliged to obtain ballot access through the tedious signature-gathering nomination-by-petition process) and nationally via devastating reputational damage. Whether this is achieved via litigation or public pressure or both, the DNC cannot countenance an even 1% chance of such an outcome and would likely capitulate to our reasonable demands as soon as such an outcome becomes an actual possibility.
The fact that the DNC is threatening to take the same action regarding voters’ ballots cast in Iowa and Georgia toward any candidates that campaign in either New Hampshire or Iowa only serves to further reinforce their deliberate intention to rig the election to favor their anointed candidate. This provides fodder and real teeth for Republican claims of Democratic election-rigging.
Due to these reasons and more we demand the DNC stops playing games, stops continuous efforts to sabotage Williamson’s campaign, shows greater respect for the American public, holds debates, and ensures every voter’s vote is counted. The DNC needs to stop putting in jeopardy the public’s respect for the Democratic Party. They must guarantee our present and future, by holding free and fair elections. Anything less is a violation of the fundamental rights of every voter in this country.
